Description

Intensive practical course to get started in Interventional Nephrology avoiding blind punctures, with the aim of learning/refining the techniques, improving the professional's confidence and safety for the patient. Students will perform these procedures under the direct supervision of an experienced professor, in a live animal model, and with real-time color Doppler ultrasound.
This course does not have any sections.

Goals

Attendees will be trained in the following techniques of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology:

– Real-time doppler-color ultrasound.

– Study of large vessels and ultrasound-guided insertion (in real time) of tunneled catheter for hemodialysis.

– Peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion by two techniques: direct puncture and surgical technique.

– Performance of percutaneous ultrasound-guided renal biopsy (in real time).
